Working it all out… one video at a time!
Currently, the YouTube Channel is filled with “QuickTrip” videos. BUT! During these videos you should see an evolution our “Timeline” brand identity. It’s something I’m keen to nail before we start creating the content about the huge project I have ahead. I’m now filming a vlog every day and have been since October 2023! Lot’s coming soon, Stay tuned.
These videos represent my editing journey. Finding the right platform to create content quickly that is of a high quality. As a TV editor I take this stuff seriously. Please like, comment and subscribe, if not for what’s there - but what is coming.
More info about when the new channel trailer that outlines the travel project will land soon!
Saying goodbye is hard…
In this video, I’m sharing a story about saying goodbye to someone who’s been by my side through countless journeys, weathered every storm with me, and was always there when I needed them most. It wasn’t always smooth sailing, and we certainly had our ups and downs, but this goodbye is something I knew was coming – even if I wasn’t quite ready for it.
A wonderful week in Wales
(and a bit of Chester!)
From winding Welsh roads to medieval castles, our latest road trip vlog has it all! We set off through Wales, stopping for some stunning scenic views (and a must-visit farm shop—trust us, you’ll want to add it to your list). Llangollen charmed us with its castles and countryside train rides, but the real showstopper? Chester Zoo! Spanning over 125 acres, it’s an animal lover’s paradise, complete with a Southeast Asian zone that'll have you dreaming of far-off adventures. We wrap up the trip with one final castle visit and reflect on the breathtaking beauty of North Wales. Ready for a sneak peek of our future travels to Southeast Asia? Dive into the blog post for all the details!
Edited on Premiere, Shot mostly on a DJI Pocket 3, iPhone 13 Pro and audio is recorded using the DJI Mic 2.
A Family Adventure in the Heart of Cornwall
Join us as we explore the stunning landscapes and charming towns of Cornwall in our latest family adventure. Starting our journey from the Cotswolds, we make our way to St. Day, the perfect base for coastal explorations. From enjoying a full English breakfast at the Bluff in Hayle to discovering hidden gems in St. Ives, our trip is filled with beautiful scenery, historical sites, and memorable moments.
We dive into the history of the Headland Hotel, where my dad stayed during WWII, and take a relaxing stroll down memory lane. Along the way, we visit Newquay Zoo, supporting their efforts during challenging times, and enjoy the thrill of spotting wildlife, including the majestic blue shark off the Cornish coast.
This video captures the essence of Cornwall—from misty mornings and beach adventures to cozy evenings in our cabin at St. Day Tourist Park. Whether you're planning your own trip or simply looking for some inspiration, this video is a must-watch.
You can also read the blog post for a deeper dive into the blue waters, excellent food and wonderful accommodation!

Top 6 Vlogging Gear!
Join me as I count down the 6 essential tools that made capturing 4K video on my recent Cornwall trip easy and efficient. From power management to the ultimate organizational hack, these tools are a must for any vlogger or content creator.
This video was edited in Premiere Pro - and shot on a Sony ZV-1 which I’ve just permanently attached to my desk so it’s ready to record quickly and easily. My DJI Mic 1 is now also attached directly to the Sony camera - so it’s an easy diary cam - for doing videos like this.
I’m quicker on premiere than I am with FCPX but I’ve got YEARS of premiere experience. I do enjoy using FCPX more - it’s a smoother experience. Time will tell.
Wow! What a treat this was. Considering I edit a lot of animal content for my job (natural history), I really appreciate a good wildlife park. This one is wonderful and we had a great time.
This video was edited entirely on Final Cut Pro for the iPad. My M2 iPad Air didn’t skip a beat - and cutting in 4k from the DJI Pocket 3 looked great. I then transferred the project to my Mac Mini m2 and finished the audio mix, exported and uploaded it. An ideal setup for editing on the go! Something I’ll need to use when we are in Asia!
Ok - so this cheese dream of a video was an experiment. I used “ChatGPT 4o” to generate the images - and set out to make a channel trailer in the style of “Lord of the Rings”. I edited the video in CapCut which not only auto generated the captions, but also the voice! Amazing, but I think my skills are safe from AI at the moment… but watch this space! :)
CapCut is an amazing bit of software - and is very capable considering it’s free. I have paid the subscription fee to get all the bells and whistles - but the Free version is still very powerful and you can create some amazing content with it.
In this video we take a stroll around the Bristol harbour and learn about the history of the area. This video was edited using Final Cut Pro and shot on the DJI Pocket 3.
Audio is mostly recorded using the onboard mics but some of the dialogue is recorded using the DJI Mic 2 which came in the Creator combo package. This represents the ideal package for vlog creation and will certainly be how I make videos for the channel when we travel.
Earlier in the year my family and I had to visit Liverpool. It was my first time and I loved my time there. We stayed in the center of the city. We wandered around and the vibe there was something else! Loved it. I want to go back and explore more before we set off on our big adventure.
This video was entirely shot on my iPhone 13 Pro and edited on LumaFusion on my iMac M2. Lumafusion is a great app. The only limitation for what we plan to do in the future is the audio. I like to run everything through a limiter and compressor, and the audio channels setup is quite restrictive. I have high hopes for the next version of this very capable editing app. Comparing the video quality of the iPhone against the Pocket 3 it’s no contest. Apart from the ability to zoom in a bit on the iPhone using the 3 lenses. A good backup camera when I need it or need to zoom in.
